State-of-the-art diagenetic experiments are done in collaboration with Dick Larese. Dick has more than 25 years experience in conducting diagenetic experiments and have worked on problems ranging from compaction of ductile grain rich rocks to controls on quartz cementation.

The primary utility of diagenetic experiments is the much greater control they provide over the important variables that influence reservoir quality. In particular, the composition and texture of the starting materials are known, the temperature and pressure conditions are precisely defined, and the fluid chemistry can be controlled and monitored.

The experiments produce diagenetic textures that in many cases are virtually indistinguishable from naturally altered sandstones.
